"Four days" - autorskie tłumaczenie z rosyjskiego na angielski
#1

Napisałem go w języku rosyjskim w wieku 17 lat.

Dmytro Mierzejewski

FOUR DAYS

Four days in autumn were merry
And happy, like a dream at night.
I felt as eating a sweet cherry,
Forgot sad thoughts and felt all right.

We spent three days in preparation,
On the fourth day we won the game;
For such successful situation
Important was the brain of N.

But now N. is not the person
About whom I want to write;
I'm giving here such a message:
You and She were on my mind.

Can one compare gram with metre?
Analogously Her with You;
And, thinking there who was better,
Two times I changed my own view…

I looked at Her, I saw black hair,
I saw Her mouth chewing gum
(But gum was not important there);
Her nice face was Her real trump.

I wanted Her: to hug Her body,
To touch Her hair would be oh!
It was my dream, which one can study,
But only dream and nothing more.

I often paid too much attention
To difference “to want - to be”;
I thought in many situations:
“Reality is not for me”...

I firstly noticed Your brightness,
It happened on the second day;
On the third day I saw Her niceness;
Then You conquered my heart again.

You were so bright and clear!
I so liked Your diamond smile!
And You became the best, my dear!
I understood: I fell in love.

And the fourth day. The competition.
The victory of our team!
The happy end of our mission.
We felt as warm as the Gulf Stream.

The leaders then felt signs of glory.
Congratulations, N. and G.!
They were main in all the story,
We were pawns (as I, You, She…).

And I went home; I was merry;
I saw the Moon and stars that night;
And all described above was very
Important item for my mind.

But that is all. The story finished.
The days are now in the past.
I know: everything diminished.
But I still hope, since I must…

My love was always inner, closed
In my teenage unhappy past.
If now a new stage arose,
Love would be mutual at last…

You may be such a ray of hope;
Be it, I beg!.. But no, stop!
The hope finished, door is closed,
All these emotions should be dropped.

You are too simple for my story,
You do not fight stereotypes.
Although I am very sorry,
Impossible are any ties.

So, well, good-bye, my dear Tanya.
A spark went out in the rain…
For You I'm strange and maybe funny,
You do not understand My brain.
